MEET THE TEAM

Nichole Murray, M.Ed., PhD., Founder

As a community builder, social justice champion, change agent, and lifelong learner, Dr. Nichole Murray is committed to equity and giving back to her community. She received her undergraduate degree from Tuskegee University. After working in the medical field for several years, she enrolled in graduate school at the University of Georgia, where she earned a Master's in Educational Psychology and a Doctorate in Social Foundations of Education. She has taught in traditional and nontraditional education settings, including a youth correctional facility, the University of Georgia, and a non-profit organization. She has researched, written, and presented on homelessness, race, equity, and education. As an equity advocate, she has connected over 300 youth experiencing homelessness to education programs and secured over $500,000 in education funding for college students experiencing homelessness.

Blanca Torres, M.A., Co-Founder

A transnational Chicana, Blanca Torres is a seasoned college instructor, human services professional, and social researcher who is passionate about culturally receptive, community centered, and trauma informed teaching, service delivery, and research approaches. Ms. Torres is currently a lecturer of Anthropology at Kennesaw State University, and a Ph.D. candidate at Cornell University with concentrations in Sociocultural Anthropology, Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Latinx Studies. Her research interests include immigrant and inner-city youth, youth homelessness, and health and social disparities among youth of color. Ms. Torres’ extensive trajectory in the social service/non-profit sector working with children in foster care, unaccompanied immigrant minors, and youth experiencing homelessness not only informs her research and teaching, but also fires her motivation to remain a humble advocate and relentless ally for disenfranchised youth.
